Gynecologic oncology is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of female reproductive system cancers as well as complex non-cancerous conditions. The minimum surgical procedure is a hysterectomy to remove the uterus, cervix, and both fallopian tubes and ovaries. Often surgery also includes the removal of lymph nodes in the pelvis and abdomen.
